Susan Carney
I have been working as a middle school counselor with 6th and 7th grade students for the past thirteen years. I received a BA in Psychology from Temple University and completed my M.Ed. in School Counseling at West Chester University. I am currently taking graduate Psychology courses at Immaculata University.
Throughout my career, I have assumed many different roles in my work with kids; including supervising a partial hospitalization program and working as a residential counselor with emotionally disturbed children. I have also been a coach, workshop presenter, group leader, and hotline counselor. I am interested in all aspects of child and youth development, with particular interests in the areas of gender issues, leadership skills, and media awareness.
I have published in TWINS Magazine, Daughters, Keiki Talk, and at justformom.com. I am also the Child Safety Examiner at Examiner.com. I am also working on a book for teens about marketing and consumerism.
When I'm not working with other people's kids, I am at home hanging out with my husband, Drew, and our five-year old twins, Megan and Jacob. I also enjoy reading, quilting, and photography.
Please feel free to email me with comments or questions. I especially welcome suggestions about topics readers want to learn about or explore further.
